Public Participation for Sustainable Development
Within the framework of Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference UNECE together with United Nations Environment Programme, Central European University and World Resource Institute organized a Side Event at Hotel Hilton on “Effective stakeholders’ Participation – why it matters for Sustainable Development Goals”.
Ms. Ekaterine Grigalava, Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia addressed the participant with opening speech. The main topic of discussion was effective participation of society in achieving sustainable development.
Ms. Grigalava emphasized the importance of participation of public and other stakeholders in decision-making process and referred to Rio Principle 10, Aarhus Convention, the Bali Guidelines and the Environmental Democracy Index.
